The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a national scheme that will be the same for everyone all over Australia. People with disability under age of 65, who are Australian citizens (or hold special visas), and have an impairment that is likely to be permanent that affects their capacity for social and economic participation and likely to need support under the NDIS for life.
Services

NDIS is delivered across northern Queensland in Cairns, the Cassowary Coast, the Tablelands, Croydon, Etheridge, Cape York, and the Torres Strait. Mission Australia delivers Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) and Local Area Coordination (LAC) services in the following local government areas:

  • Cairns
  • Cassowary Coast
  • Douglas
  • Etheridge
  • Mareeba
  • Tablelands
  • Yarrabah.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) provides planning services in the remaining areas of the Cairns region, including the local government areas of:

  • Aurukun
  • Cook
  • Croydon
  • Hope Vale
  • Kowanyama
  • Lockhart River
  • Mapoon
  • Napranum
  • Northern Peninsula
  • Prompuraaw
  • Torres
  • Torres Strait Island
  • Weipa
  • Wujal Wujal.

NDIS services are delivered by ECEI partner UnitingCare Community and LAC partner Feros Care in the Mackay, Isaac, and Whitsundays regions.

NDIS services are provided by ECEI partner UnitingCare Community and LAC partner Feros Care across the Townsville, Hinchinbrook, and Burdekin regions, in the local government areas of:

  • Townsville
  • Charters Towers
  • Palm Island
  • Burdekin
  • Hinchinbrook
  • Richmond.

Cootharinga North Queensland 
Provides support and services to assist those living with an disability within the North Queensland region.

An independent agency established to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services.

Queensland Government – Department of Communities, Disability Services, and Seniors

The government agency focused on thriving communities, delivering quality, targeted support to improve social wellbeing of people and places in Queensland.

Carers Queensland 

Provides specialised carer, aged, and disability support services, advocating for equal rights and enhanced outcomes for families.
