Health in my region

kids-hpNorthern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN) is working to make health better for all people in North Queensland. We have a focus on improving health for populations that are most at risk, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and older Australians. We are actively engaging people in communities through our Community Advisory Groups and we also welcome feedback on health services and issues.

TOWNSVILLE COMMUNITY BBQ | Northern Queensland PHN and Operation Compass recently teamed up with APM Disability Employment Services to host a free flood recovery support BBQ in Townsville, providing useful resources and information to the flood-affected community.

The NQPHN website also has a range of helpful resources to assist both community members and health professionals during recovery efforts following the major flood event. These two webpages provide links to information on mental health, public health, financial assistance, community hubs, and other support resources specific to the Townsville region.

NGOONBI COMMUNITY SERVICES INDIGENOUS CORPORATION LAUNCH | Northern Queensland PHN recently attended a community event hosted by Ngoonbi in Kuranda to launch their new alcohol and other drugs services to the grassroots community.

Ngoonbi Alcohol and Other Drugs Program is a therapeutic interactive outreach service and operates as an extended program with Ngoonbi Community Service Indigenous Corporation.

The program was established to support the families and individuals of Kuranda and surrounding areas in reducing the impact of substance misuse.
