Child Health Team Leader - Registered Nurse

Gurriny Yealamucka Health Services Aboriginal Corporation (GYHSAC) is seeking a full-time Child Health Team Leader.

Leading the Child Health program, you will utilise established care plans and a multidisciplinary health team approach to coordinating and delivering high quality, child health care and services that aligns with the ACCHO model of comprehensive PHC, to standards that comply with clinical policy and RACGP accreditation requirements. The position works closely with early childhood centres, schools, and government agencies involved with child health and child protection.

You will work in collaboration with experienced and supportive health and clinical teams to provide culturally sensitive, evidenced-based nursing care and services. You will lead the delivery of high quality, family-centred child health care that promotes and protects the health of families with children up to 16 years. In the course of your work (at either one of our two clinics or in the patient's own home), you will engage patients and their families through a style of positive health promotion that fosters a sense of personal control, encourages healthy lifestyles, and supports the principles of preventative health.

Skills and experience

You will hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and must have a strong commitment to the principles of culturally sensitive healthcare within a community-controlled setting. 

A demonstrated knowledge of the health determinants faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will underpin your commitment. Proven experience in applying this knowledge within a community setting will be highly regarded.

Other position requirements

  • Availability during clinic hours: 8am-4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Commitment to maintaining ongoing CPR certification.
  • Current Queensland drivers licence.
