Building trust and engagement – Culturally responsive communication

Delivering mental health education, peer connections and a supportive online community of mental health practice for Northern Australia.

What is Health eMinds ECHO? 

  • Build capacity: Share mental health knowledge and experiences to improve healthcare quality.
  • Free interactive sessions: Explore diverse mental health topics through engaging case-based discussions.
  • Open to all: Welcoming clinical and non-clinical healthcare workers across Northern Australia.
  • Regular monthly sessions: First Thursday of each month.

Session Format: 

  • 10-minute expert presentations: Insights from specialists on mental health topics.
  • Case study discussions: Participants share real-life cases with the group.
  • Q&A and dialogue: Everyone can join the conversation and share thoughts and experiences.

Presenter: Dr Chontel Gibson, NeuRA -Aboriginal Health and Ageing Team.

Presenter Profile :

Dr Chontel Gibson is a Gamilaraay woman from far northwestern NSW. She holds a PhD in older Aboriginal peoples’ social and emotional wellbeing, a Masters in Public Health and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapist). Chontel has held many leadership positions in health, not-for-profit sector, and education. She is currently working with NeuRA as a Senior Research Fellow in the Aboriginal Health and Ageing Team.
