North Townsville Community Hub
Since 2017, GPs across Australia have rated mental health as the most common presentation in practice – something that has only drastically increased since the COVID pandemic and more recently, the cost-of-living crises.
Multiple health groups and bodies have since called on the Federal Government to implement a national Social Prescribing Scheme in response to Australia’s mental health and wellbeing crisis.
As a result of a Parliamentary Inquiry in 2021 into Social Isolation and Loneliness, the Innovation Fund was developed by the Queensland Government to address the issue within Queensland communities.
In 2023, North Townsville Community Hub (NOTCH) successfully acquired Department of Communities Funding for 2023-2026, for their Social Inclusion Project: A Place to Belong.
An innovative program for Townsville and the Northern Beaches, A Place to Belong aims to foster meaningful connections for locals experiencing social isolation and loneliness.
Loneliness Awareness Week Australia is celebrated across the 4th-10th of August in 2025 and this year, North Townsville Community Hub (NOTCH) is celebrating two years of delivering an inaugural and nation-leading program that is tackling isolation and loneliness in our community.
The local GP network is warmly invited to come along for an informative evening to discover more about this unique social prescribing program, whilst enjoying the Mediterranean and Australian fine-dining fusion, that is Levanti.
Places are strictly limited, please contact the SIL Team at NOTCH on 47516 511 or email sil@notch.org.au to learn more.
Secure your ticket via Eventbrite; tickets are live from Tuesday 1 July 5.00pm AEST.
