About the opportunity The Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services, as part of a multidisciplinary team enabling positive health outcomes for Cape York communities.

It is a condition of employment for this position that the employee be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with organisational policy requirements.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against vaccine preventable diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About you To be successful in this role you will have:

  • a certificate IV or diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice
  • a registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
  • demonstrated experience and competency as a health practitioner within a clinical practice environment, with a sound understanding of integrated client care in a multidisciplinary team
  • ability to apply a high level of professional judgement, knowledge, and skills in the delivery of clinical care
  • understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
