Location: FIFO from Cairns (Monday to Friday roster)
Status: Full Time Fixed Term (until 31 December 2022)  
Salary: $90,543 - $103,031 p.a. + super

About us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service. We provide culturally appropriate, family centred, comprehensive primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York. 

About the opportunity
As Occupational Therapist you will provide paediatric occupational therapy services to schools within remote communities across Cape York, in a multidisciplinary team environment. This is a FIFO position from Cairns, and you will be provided with accommodation and a travel allowance of up to $113 per day. 

It is a condition of employment for this position that the employee be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with the Workers in a healthcare setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) Direction.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • a tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • experience and competency in a broad range of complex occupational therapy services
  • understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
  • ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
