Job Description

Position: Occupational Therapist (new Graduate or experienced) Location: Atherton Tablelands, Queensland Employment type: Permanent, full time (38 hours per week) Salary range: $75,000 – $105,000 per annum (depending on experience and skills)

Why join us?

At The Whole Child, we know that the best therapy happens when therapists feel truly connected to their work. That’s why we encourage our team members to lean into their strengths, interests, and passions within the OT profession—whether that’s sensory integration, nature-based therapy, school-based services, assistive technology, or another specialty.

We’re a small, supportive team with a big vision: to make therapy feel meaningful, fun, and life-changing for the children, young adults, and families we serve. We work holistically, valuing the whole child and their unique journey. Our purpose-built clinic just outside of Atherton is a warm and welcoming space, featuring:

✔ A sensory gym ✔ Various therapy rooms ✔ A nature play area ✔ A messy/art therapy space ✔ A garden therapy area ✔ A sandplay and symbol work room

We also work beyond the clinic, bringing therapy into schools, homes, workplaces, and other community spaces across the Atherton Tablelands.

What makes this role special?

  • Follow your interests – We love when therapists bring their unique skills and interests to shape their role. Want to explore nature-based therapy? Passionate about working with teens? Interested in a certain intervention model? Let’s make it happen!
  • Flexible and supportive environment – We prioritise work-life balance and tailor your workload to support both your professional growth and personal well-being.
  • Collaboration and connection – Regular team gatherings, case discussions, and professional development ensure you never feel like you’re working alone.
  • Growth and learning – Whether you’re a new graduate or an experienced OT, we provide ongoing mentoring, supervision, and professional development tailored to you.

What you’ll be doing

✅ Assess and provide hands-on therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of needs. ✅ Design individualised, family-centered, and holistic therapy plans. ✅ Work both in the clinic and out in the community (schools, daycares, workplaces, homes). ✅ Build strong relationships with families, teachers, and health professionals. ✅ Manage your own caseload with support from our experienced team. ✅ Contribute to team projects, programs, and innovative service delivery.

What we’re looking for

✔ Qualified Occupational Therapist with AHPRA registration. ✔ Current Driver’s Licence (as some travel within the community is involved). ✔ New grads welcome! If you’re passionate about paediatrics, we’ll support your growth. ✔ If experienced, bring your passion! We love therapists with special interests and are happy to help you build your dream caseload. ✔ Strong problem-solving skills and a heart for helping others. ✔ A commitment to providing warm, high-quality, family-centred care.

Why you’ll love living here!

The Atherton Tablelands is one of Queensland’s hidden gems—a place where lush rainforests, waterfalls, and rolling green hills make everyday life feel like an adventure. Whether you love hiking, swimming in crystal-clear lakes, exploring local markets, or just soaking up the relaxed lifestyle, you’ll feel right at home here.

How to apply

If this sounds like the kind of role and workplace you’d love, we’d love to hear from you! Visit our website www.thewholechild.com.au to learn more about us and send in your application.

Or, if you want to chat first and see if we’re a good fit, feel free to reach out—we’re always happy to connect!
